Medical emergencies can occur any time, in any setting. Incidents such as falls, road accidents, and sudden illnesses like heart attack or stroke can be life threatening if medical aid is not available at once.
Given the large number of accidents, injuries and sudden illnesses that occur everywhere, it is possible that you might have to help someone in an emergency situation. In such a case, it is important to know who and when to call, what kind of care to provide and how to administer care until emergency services arrive and take over.
This module explains the basics of providing care to a casualty, what you need to know before and after providing care and the precautions you should take while helping a casualty.
